Porsche 1957 356A Speedster - SOLD
This Porsche 356 A Speedster is a beautifully presented example of the iconic classic sports car, offered in impressive condition throughout and benefitting from a previous comprehensive restoration. Boasting interesting provenance having been originally owned by Michael Lang, and featuring all of its original and matching body panels, it would make a stunning addition to any assembly of sought-after classics, and an effortlessly stylish companion for weekend jaunts, fair-weather cruising, and classic car show visits alike.
The car is a vibrant example of the iconic open-top sports car, which benefits from comprehensive restorative maintenance. Under the rear engine lid sits a naturally aspirated 1.6-litre air-cooled flat-four, producing around 60bhp and driving the rear wheels via a four-speed manual transmission.
This 356 A Speedster is understood to have originally been a US-delivered example, which was purchased and owned for 50 years by the famous co-creator of the Woodstock music festival, Michael Lang.
The odometer shows 780 Kms since the completion of the restoration. First registered in the UK in November 1995, the car was then shipped to Belgium in 2014, where it underwent a three-year restoration by Porsche specialist Technique Historique. It was then re-imported into the UK.
This 356 A Speedster is finished in the bold hue of Signal Red with a black convertible roof, over a beige leatherette-trimmed interior featuring tan square-weave carpets and seat backs, and a body-coloured dashboard.
It rides on a set of 15-inch silver-painted steel wheels with chrome hubcaps, shod in Vredestein Sprint Classic tyres.
The factory specification includes sealed-beam headlamps, chromed tubular bumpers with overriders, a two-spoke steering wheel, and VDO glow-in-the-dark gauges.
This example now features a 12-volt electrical system, a disc brake conversion, and an aftermarket tonneau cover.
