Neugeboren
(Newborn)
Whether we source the car for you, or you bring us your special classic, each Hemmels creation is restored to the strict specifications of the Neugeboren Process, which demands each car is taken back to its bare metal beginnings to be rebuilt. And reborn.
Portfolio
Our experience of restoring classic Mercedes-Benz is wide-ranging, from the 190SL and 300SL and W113 Pagoda series, through to the W108, W111, W112 coupes and cabriolets.
Disassembly
Our expert team carefully disassemble the original car, tagging and storing key components and assessing the work required to deliver a world class restoration
Back to metal
A non-chemical process strips the shell and removes corrosion before we begin metal work. We repair and replace all decayed panels with Mercedes-Benz parts.
Engine rebuild
The engine is entirely disassembled and undergoes a complete nut and bolt rebuild to "as new" condition using only parts supplied directly by Mercedes-Benz.
Metal work
Our expert team carefully repair or replace every single panel as required, ensuring the final product is as good as when it originally came off the production line.
Paint process
Our proven paint process delivers a perfect finish with base coats, clears, and primers having chemical coherence to ensure protection and presentation for decades to come.
Assembly
The engine and underlying mechanicals are re-assembled in Hemmels' finishing facility — described in a recent industry article as "surgical".
Interior
The custom leather work and complete interior is created and fastidiously fitted by the experts in our dedicated Trim Shop.
Road testing
Before delivery to the client, each car must undergo and complete a comprehensive testing program before it can be signed-off by our Quality team.
