Mercedes Benz Fashion Week MBFW

In Vogue - Mercedes Benz Fashion Week MBFW

Some 40 years after the first SL hit the road, Mercedes launched the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week to embrace the company's long-running relationship with international style.

To celebrate the last MBFW event of this season, we explore the people on either side of the lens who were drawn to a Mercedes classic, after a fashion.

The Pagoda has featured significantly in photoshoots where the model conveyed understated class and elegance.

Above, renowned photographer Helmut Newton (Vogue, Harpers Bazaar, Playboy) captured the beauty of simplicity in this 1971 photo for Vogue France.

Rakoh Lauren, 300SL Gullwing and Roadster

Fashion designers especially have been drawn to the early SL models. While Karl Lagerfeld smashed his 190SL, Ralph Lauren (above) has safely kept both a 300SL Gullwing and Roadster.

More than a model, race-car driver, showjumper and entertainment personality Jodie Kidd (below) poses at the world's first speedway, Brooklands Motor Racing Circuit.
